About Rainer Willeke

Hi, I’m Rainer Willeke. I’m a technologist, musician and photographer on Vancouver Island, and this blog is where I share some of my stories and projects.
Where I’m from
I came to Vancouver Island from the mainland in 1975, when my parents built their dream home near French Creek. I grew up in the Oceanside area, and I’ve lived in Nanoose Bay since 2017, just minutes up the road from where I started. My first computer arrived in 1980, and I’ve been making a living from technology ever since 1987, from my start at Blue Door Electronics all the way to running my own business for over 20 years and counting.
What I do
I founded Raindog Solutions in 2003. It provides custom PCs, IT and network support, and WordPress web development for homes and small businesses, and I’m CompTIA A+ certified. Some of my posts here are based on takeaways that I’ve learned on the job, written up for anyone facing the same or similar problem.
What I make
I write, record and produce my own music & videos in a soundproof home studio I built in Nanoose Bay. Find it at Rainer Willeke Music. I also build audio software, like the EmoDyn synth, and I photograph the local wildlife and landscape. Some of my photos are licensed through Adobe Stock.
What you’ll find here
Technology how-tos, personal stories, music and studio notes, hands-on projects (including my flex-fuel BMW E46 M3 build), and a few free tools, like the Ethanol Blend Calculator.
